And an encore, very much so // És egy ráadás, de még mennyire
When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye I turned to look, but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown, the dream is gone
When, in a dream, I realise that I am dreaming, I can also become aware that I can dream whatever I want, that I can dream something completely different. If, when awake, I realise that I am awake, can I also become aware that I am in reality, and that I can make real whatever I want to make real, that I can make reality completely different? Almost. The difference tells me which is the reality and which is the dream.

kölcsönszárnyakon fejemben gomolygó füsttel botlok be a házadba mindig mindenhol mindenféleképpen a te házad Nagy Titokzatosság minden út a te házad
házadban levedlem bőrömet át minden tiltott oldalajtón bármiféle álcát magamra öltve besurranok becsempészem magam a jelenlétedbe Édes Titokzatosság besurranok jelenlétedbe
erős béke lakozik rendületlenül jelenlétedben erős béke nem törődik élettel halállal káosz a te dobogó szíved Nagy Titokzatosság erős béke káosz szív
vezess engem békéddel bíztass szabadságra gyengéd születéssel gyengéd születéssel az ébredésbe a virág kibomlik Édes Titokzatosság a virág beszél
My goal is to accept myself as I am. My goal is to change. My goal is not to accept myself as I am, but to change. My goal is not to change, but to accept myself as I am. My goal is to accept myself as I am, but to change. My goal is to change, but to accept myself as I am. In order to change, I need to accept myself as I am. In order to accept myself as I am, I need to change. If my goal is to accept myself as I am, why should I change? If my goal is to change, why should I accept myself as I am? My goal is to accept myself as I am, but as right now I do not accept myself as I am, reaching that goal requires me to change. It seems that reaching any goal implies a change in me: from the me that has not yet reached the goal to the me that has reached it.

mutasd a valódi arcodat újra körömben kicsi békám végre előtalált csöppség sérelmed fájdalmad csalódásod végre megint előkiabáló
hallom a hangod
hallod a hangom
száműzött hazatérésének
így még nem örültem
ünnepi élet felszalagozva az ég is
amíg a szokásaim tartottak egyben
nem állt szabadságomban megvizsgálni őket
a történet nélküli jelenben
megvetett lábú otthonosság
a szokástest átvilágításának
elengedhetetlen feltétele
nem áshatom fel
pont azt a darab földet
amin állok
talán ezért kell
a megpróbáltatás
a próbatétel
viharból hazatérő ragaszkodó árny álomvigyázó kicsi testvér üdvözöllek újra magamban

farewell old friend i take my leave little older brother caught in his time caught in my belly my guardian demon
farewell middle of the night
constricting fears
rising from anxiety dreams
exhausting insomnias
farewell intellect dulling panic tightening
with a slow grinding within
show me your real face
back in my company my little frog
finally found little lost tot
finally crying once more
your grievances your pain your disappointment
i hear your voice
you hear my voice
i have never felt so pleased
by the return of an exile
celebratory life even the sky is garlanded
while my habits were the things that kept me in one piece
i was not at liberty to examine them
being securely at home
in the storiless present
is an indispensable precondition
of illuminating the habit body
i cannot dig up
the very piece of land
on which i stand
maybe that is why
ordeal and trials
are required
clingy shadow
returned from the storm
dreamguarding little sibling
i salute you within me again

And it’s also been pretty rough, come to think of it, how, for many long years, I kept writing off each new self as they arose: he’s an asshole, he’s an asshole, he was an asshole, too: I hated the vicissitudes of childhood, I couldn’t even get me a proper, massive trauma, best I could do was this sequence of medium-heavy wounds, I don’t know how my therapist is going to write a New York Times bestseller about my case; and I hated my schoolboy self, the regular series of loves unrequited, I despised the acne-ridden and increasingly chubby adolescent who obtained his pleasures using cheap soft-porn magazines and already hated himself in the process, indeed perhaps already back then that was the most important benefit? It was totally cringe to remember the guy who went to university because it had been customary in his family to do so, and then suffered through the whole thing, forcing himself to write every single essay at the cost of tremendous wallowings in bitter guilt – and then went and found himself a livelihood that allowed him to perfect this bizarre ritual even further… and I hated the geezer who had found a medicine alright, which helped him stay alive and within his boundaries for many long years, but he didn’t listen to it, so in the end even the medicine got bored and gave up, while he spent the time methodically destroying a marriage that, being a relationship based on neediness, had not been destined for longevity to begin with, although he wasn’t the only one working that destruction… and as for the reputedly multiply talented artsy guy who loves to play music so much that he never bothered to learn any instrument properly, who regularly fantasises about his book but never actually writes it, and who also likes to paint and to draw, but the teacher at the art school he once applied for had been correct when he said, it’s not bad but it’s not enough – well I simply found him sad.
Of course there were a few more likeable characters, such as the lad who ran away from the People’s Army and then landed more or less on his feet in the new place, though he did break his leg a little, and the youth who, at his dad’s advice, applied for a job at the swimming pool, and although after the test swim he did puke all over the showers, he was employed as a pool attendant, which opened the golden gates of both financial independence and blessed politoxicomania… the usually rather weedy-eyed, podgy character around whom somewhat neglected children were generally hanging out in an atmosphere of freedom and friendliness, having an okay time… only trouble with them, though, was that they would surrender their place at the drop of a hat, the slightest provocation, to one of the assholes, the screaming-cursing-frustrated self-imprisoner, the loser, unable to find any kind of strength or motivation within himself, or the shiny-eyed dreamer, who did find the path to happiness in most kinds of shrubbery but always got distracted by some sparkling trinket of an object and never actually got started.
Now it seems I have managed to lay myself a somewhat more durable bed in the present, I am amazed to see all these abused selves of mine, like a bunch of zombies still in relatively decent condition, surround me and walk towards me with slow, almost ceremonial steps. They stop after each pace to ask questions: Will you not spit in my face? Will you not vomit on my clothes? Do you no longer find me disgusting? Do you forgive me, but really? Can I stay?
Can I come even closer?
As if a winged sun were shining right above my head, I just stand, stopping either the goofy grin or the flowing tears an impossibility now, how lucky that I don’t actually want them to stop, and I turn slowly around my axis, checking myself out in various, hairier and shaven, angry, shy, frightened and perhaps now even a little hopeful versions, and I keep muttering, of course, do come, all of you, come.
